Areas of work
Civil engineering has been leaving its mark on the world since ancient times. This can be seen from the numerous structures that have been created under the leadership of civil engineers. Today, some endeavours make less of an impression, for example conversions for a change of use. Here, environmental impact plays an increasingly important role.
These challenges are undertaken by civil engineers in the interests of clients, society and the environment. As critical and competent experts, they dedicate themselves to finding creative solutions.
Civil engineers can choose from a wide variety of career opportunities. They might work for engineering and planning offices, building contractors, public authorities or in the service sector. Working abroad offers attractive possibilities, for example in development cooperation. Based on their civil engineering studies, they are qualified to work in responsible positions. After a few years of professional experience, they can also work as project leaders in an engineering office or in a construction company, occupy a leading position in a public authority or choose to follow the path of independence.
