Following the Swiss referendum „on mass immigration“ in February 2014, the European Union suspended negotiations on Switzerland’s full participation in the EU education program Erasmus+, and declared Switzerland a third party country. The Swiss government prepared an interim solution, called SEMP Swiss-European Mobility Programme, which allows an indirect participation in Erasmus+ and to fund the scholarships for Incoming and Outgoing students.
Temporary studies abroad
International experience is an asset in numerous respects. Personal horizons, intercultural competence and language knowledge will all be widened. And last but not least, it will increase prospects in the job market.
Thanks to partnerships with universities abroad, HSR students (outgoing students) have the opportunity to study for one or two semesters abroad or to write their thesis. Similarly, foreign students (incoming students) have the opportunity to temporarily study at the HSR. The HSR also encourages the exchange of lecturers.
