Anyone who is fond of innovative thinking and doing things themselves and who has their own ideas for developments and improvements is making precisely the right choice in opting for Mechanical Engineering | Innovation as a professional field. Our everyday lives are surrounded by technology, and there is scarcely any area where human work is not supplemented by the use of sophisticated, state-of-the-art equipment and machines. Mechanical engineers with their ingenious and innovative solutions provide answers to the current and future challenges of our society. Alongside this, new fields of application are continually being opened up in the form of new technologies – and things will become feasible that we don't even dare dream of today. The demand for qualified engineers will thus continue to increase in the future.


The fields of work in mechanical engineering are more varied than ever before. Whether in the field of new construction, development, sales, operations, production or maintenance, mechanical engineers make a key contribution and are available as competent partners. Their career can involve assuming responsibility for ever larger areas of the company and extend right through to the management. After gaining several years' experience, a number of graduates go on to implement a pioneering idea in their own company.


Example for practical study

In collaboration with the internationally in the automotive sector active big company ThyssenKrupp Presta the students have developed new ideas for steering gears in passenger cars. Nine different steering gears were built and tested. Four gears could even be implemented into a serial BMW and tested on a test road. See for yourself:
